28 Years Later: Second Most Watched Horror Trailer Ever; Sony Releases Original Digitally

Sony Pictures has announced the digital release of the 2002 zombie classic 28 Days Later, starting December 18. This release comes in response to the overwhelming excitement surrounding the trailer for 28 Years Later, the latest installment in the iconic franchise.

The 28 Years Later trailer has become the second most-watched horror trailer of all time, amassing 60.2 million views within 24 hours of its release, and a total of 146.1 million views globally. It trails only the It Chapter Two trailer in viewership. The trailer surpassed other major horror releases such as The Nun, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and Halloween.

Sony's decision to digitally release the original 28 Days Later follows the immense interest in the franchise, with the first two films grossing nearly $150 million globally. The reboot, 28 Years Later, will feature returning cast member Cillian Murphy alongside Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell. With a budget of $75 million, the film is expected to continue the franchise's legacy. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the original creators, return to oversee the reboot.
