In response to rising smog levels, the Punjab government announced a green lockdown in multiple areas of Lahore, aiming to reduce pollution and protect public health. This lockdown covers Davis Road, Kashmir Road, Egerton Road, Durand Road, Abbott Road, and more. Key restrictions include a ban on construction activities, chingchi rickshaws, and commercial generators in these zones, with restaurants and barbecue spots closing at 8 pm in the most affected areas.

To address the root causes, 300 electric buses will be introduced, vehicle fitness certifications will be enforced, and illegal brick kilns will be removed. In addition, Maryam Nawaz suggested "smog diplomacy" with India, proposing joint efforts to tackle pollution across borders, given that "air doesn’t recognize borders."

Stay informed and take the necessary precautions during this green lockdown to improve air quality in Lahore.
