Punjab Faces Rising Dengue Threat, 78 More Cases Confirmed

Punjab continues to battle a growing dengue outbreak, with 78 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Punjab Health Department. The total number of cases in the province has now reached 7,260 in 2024.

Rawalpindi remains the most affected, accounting for 64 of the new cases, followed by Lahore with 5 and Attock with 2. Other cities, including Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Okara, reported isolated cases.

This week alone, 502 new cases have been documented. The Punjab Health Department has reassured citizens that hospitals are well-stocked with necessary medicines and are fully equipped to handle the influx of dengue patients. Officials are urging the public to adopt preventive measures such as maintaining cleanliness, eliminating stagnant water, and cooperating with health teams conducting inspections in affected areas.

To assist the public, a dedicated dengue helpline (1033) has been launched, offering support for inquiries and reporting dengue-related issues.

Health authorities stress the importance of heightened public awareness and strict adherence to preventive protocols to control the rising number of infections.
