CHAK JHUMRA – In a tragic incident, a woman was allegedly tortured to death by her husband over a domestic dispute. The accused, Muhammad Usman Yousuf, was reportedly unemployed, while his wife, Asma, worked hard sewing clothes to feed their three children.
According to the police, Usman Yousuf regularly demanded money from his wife, and when she was unable to meet his demands, he would physically abuse her. On the day of the incident, Usman, along with several accomplices—Sami, Saad, Kamran, Zabiullah, Shazia, and Maria Bibi—brutally tortured Asma. The assault culminated in them strangling her with a scarf, ultimately causing her death before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Sadar Police Station authorities reached the location and took possession of Asma's body. After completing necessary formalities, the body was handed over to her family. The police registered a case and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the heinous crime.
This heartbreaking event highlights the growing issue of domestic violence and its devastating consequences. Despite her efforts to support her family, Asma became another victim of abuse, which tragically cost her life.
Meanwhile, in another disturbing incident in the nearby Douglaspora area, unknown assailants entered a hostel and tortured a 40-year-old man, Ghulam Murtaza, to death. Ghulam, an in-charge of a private security company, was found dead by a colleague who alerted the Jhang Bazar police. The police promptly took control of the situation, transferring his body to the hospital and initiating an investigation.
The local community remains in shock, and both incidents underscore the urgent need for stronger measures to combat violence and ensure justice for victims.
