The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has raised alarms over delays in executing its decisions, with seven ministries being flagged for non-compliance.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has raised alarms over delays in executing its decisions, with seven ministries being flagged for non-compliance. Among these, the Ministry of Industries and Production has emerged as the leading defaulter.
During a special meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the committee reviewed a total of 133 decisions made in 18 ECC meetings. Of these, 115 have been implemented, while 18 remain pending, including critical policy and miscellaneous matters.
A significant lapse was identified within the Ministry of Finance, which failed to act on a directive issued on May 27. The Ministry of Industries faced criticism for its numerous unexecuted policies, which were attributed to changes in plans, including modifications to the Utility Stores Corporation subsidy scheme.
The ECC emphasized the need for improved inter-ministerial coordination and a faster pace of implementation to avoid policy bottlenecks and ensure smoother governance.
