JI Expands Haq Do Movement for Provincial Rights
Jamaat-i-Islami’s Maulana Hidayatur Rehman starts the "Haq Do Balochistan" movement to address security, unemployment, border closures, and human rights issues in Balochistan. Protests are planned for November 15.
Maulana Hidayatur Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-i-Islami in Balochistan and a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), has raised serious concerns about the worsening security situation in the province. Despite the government spending Rs 85 billion on security, Rehman says the people of Balochistan are still not safe, which has caused growing frustration.
To address this, Rehman has started the "Haq Do Balochistan" movement. The movement will begin with protests on November 15, followed by a meeting with different political parties on November 16 to discuss solutions. Rehman pointed out several important issues that the movement will focus on:
- Terrorism: Condemning recent attacks in cities like Quetta, Mastung, Duki, Gwadar, Panjgur, and Noshki.
- Unemployment: Border closures have left around three million people without jobs.
- Border Closures: Demanding the reopening of key border points, especially from Chaman to Gwadar, to help businesses and the economy.
- Human Rights: Calling for an end to enforced disappearances, kidnappings, and human rights violations in the province.
- Youth Discontent: Addressing the anger and frustration of young people who feel the government is not paying attention to their problems.
Rehman also presented a 26-point list of demands, focusing on:
- Protection of Resources: The need to improve services like education, healthcare, and create job opportunities.
- Good Governance: Fighting corruption among politicians, bureaucrats, judges, and military officials.
- Political Freedoms: Restoring the rights and freedoms of the people of Balochistan.
The "Haq Do Balochistan" movement is already gaining attention, with protests and road blockages taking place in Gwadar District. Rehman has promised that his party will continue to speak up for Balochistan in parliament and other political forums, pushing for change and justice for the people of the province.
