The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send star left-handed batter Saim Ayub to London for immediate medical treatment following a right ankle fracture he sustained during Pakistan’s Test match against South Africa at Newlands on Friday.
Ayub, a key player in Pakistan’s white-ball setup, has been ruled out of competitive cricket for six weeks, raising concerns about his availability for the Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19.
PCB’s Decision and Swift Action
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the decision after consulting medical experts, ensuring Ayub receives world-class treatment.
"Saim’s treatment will be done in the best hospital in the world, and all resources will be used for his recovery," Naqvi said in a statement.
The PCB confirmed that Ayub will travel to London directly from Cape Town on the first available flight, accompanied by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood.
Injury Details and Immediate Plans
Ayub sustained the injury while fielding against South Africa. The PCB’s medical team, led by Dr. Mumraiz, has shared Ayub’s reports with orthopedic specialists in England.
