Pakistan Increases Petrol Price by Rs3.47 Amid Global Market Trends
The Pakistan government has announced a fuel price hike for the remaining days of January, raising petrol prices by Rs3.47 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs2.61.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government has announced a fuel price hike for the remaining days of January, raising petrol prices by Rs3.47 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs2.61. This adjustment reflects fluctuations in global energy markets and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
The revised prices, now set at Rs260.95 per liter for diesel and Rs256.13 for petrol, will take effect starting January 16, as per the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). These fortnightly adjustments aim to maintain the fuel supply chain by aligning consumer prices with international market dynamics.
However, the increase is expected to add economic strain, as fuel price hikes typically push up consumer costs across multiple sectors, amplifying public discontent amid already challenging economic conditions.
