Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Ipswich to climb to second place in the Premier League, reducing Liverpool's lead at the top to six points. The match marked the Gunners’ first outing without Bukayo Saka, sidelined with a hamstring injury that could keep him out until March.
Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the 23rd minute, converting Leandro Trossard's low cross for his 12th goal of the season. Despite dominating possession, Arsenal struggled to extend their lead, with missed opportunities from Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus, and Mikel Merino keeping the visitors in contention.
Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the need for improvement but praised the team's defensive solidity. "Credit to them as they're very well organized, but we restricted them to nothing," said Arteta.
Ipswich showed ambition in the second half, but Arsenal’s defense held firm to secure the three points, pushing Nottingham Forest and Chelsea down the table. Ipswich, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone, three points from safety.
Elsewhere, Brighton’s struggles continued with a goalless draw against Brentford, leaving the Seagulls winless in six games.
