Blast claims lives of four school children & one cop in Mastung
A blast in Balochistan's Mastung district targeted a police vehicle, killing four schoolchildren and injuring at least 15 others. Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, urging vigilance against terrorism as emergency services responded to the incident.
An explosion on Friday targeted a police vehicle in Balochistan's Mastung district, resulting in the
deaths of four schoolchildren and one policeman near Girls High School at Civil Hospital Chowk. The
blast injured at least 15 others and damaged nearby vehicles, including rickshaws.
Police confirmed that a remote-controlled explosive device was planted in a motorcycle. Most of
those injured were schoolchildren, who were taken to the District Headquarter Hospital. The
deceased children, both girls and boys, were aged between 10 and 13, with four police officers also
among the injured.
In response, an emergency was declared across all Quetta hospitals, and medical staff were called to
assist. Some critically injured were transferred to the Trauma Center in Quetta.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, expressing grief over the loss of lives
and extending condolences to the families. Bugti urged citizens to remain vigilant against terrorism,
emphasizing that unity is essential in fighting this threat. Senate Chairman and Acting President
Yousuf Raza Gillani also condemned the incident, asserting the nation's support for security forces in
the battle against terrorism.
