NVIDIA to Manufacture AI Supercomputers and Chips in the U.S. Under $500 Billion Stargate Project

In a historic shift, chipmaking titan NVIDIA has announced its plans to manufacture AI supercomputers and advanced Blackwell AI chips entirely on American soil as part of a sweeping $500 billion initiative dubbed the Stargate Project. This bold move marks a significant step toward reshoring critical technology manufacturing and bolstering domestic AI infrastructure.

The company will collaborate with top-tier manufacturing partners including TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to establish over a million square feet of production facilities across the United States. These factories will be used to assemble and test some of the most advanced AI chips ever created, designed to fuel next-generation artificial intelligence platforms.

“The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time,” said Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s Founder and CEO. “Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain, and boosts our resiliency.”

Initial production of NVIDIA’s Blackwell chips is already underway at TSMC’s facility in Phoenix, Arizona, while the company has teamed up with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas to set up large-scale supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas. Mass production is expected to scale up over the next 12 to 15 months.

But NVIDIA isn’t just moving its operations home — it's reinventing how manufacturing is done. The company will utilize its own technologies, including NVIDIA Omniverse to build digital twins of the factories, and its Isaac GR00T initiative to automate operations using intelligent robotics and AI. This marks one of the first times a tech giant is using its complete ecosystem to create self-optimizing production environments.

The announcement comes amidst ongoing tariff pressures initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who launched aggressive efforts to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. “This is the Trump Effect in action,” said a White House spokesperson, crediting the ex-president for pushing trillion-dollar investments into American tech.

While critics remain divided on the cost and environmental implications of building such massive infrastructure, the Stargate Project undeniably sets a powerful precedent — one where the future of AI is built at home, not abroad.
