Omar Ayub Khan, Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan's National Assembly, has delivered a strong critique of the government's economic policies, particularly its failure to meet IMF benchmarks. He accused the government of relying on deceptive data and warned that the proposed mini-budget would only deepen economic struggles, marked by persistent price hikes and inflation. According to Ayub, the administration’s inability to control rising prices and manage economic instability underscores its lack of viable solutions.

He also raised concerns about recent legislative changes extending the tenure of military chiefs from three to five years, suggesting it diminishes the rights of senior officers and should have been deliberated by the assembly’s defense committee.

Ayub further condemned the treatment of PTI leaders imprisoned in recent months, including Imran Khan, who he claims is being denied essential rights. He voiced disapproval of the government’s actions against PTI members facing military court proceedings.

In international matters, Ayub congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump, emphasizing the significance of fostering strong relations with the US and the European Union, both crucial trade partners.
