US to Maintain Surge of Weapon Deliveries to Ukraine: Biden

President Joe Biden reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities following Russia’s overnight airstrikes, which Kyiv described as “inhumane.”

In a statement released by the State Department on Wednesday, Biden said, “I have directed the Department of Defence to continue its surge of weapons deliveries to Ukraine. The United States will work tirelessly to bolster Ukraine’s position in its defence against Russian forces.”

The remarks followed reports of Russian missile and drone attacks targeting Ukrainian cities and critical energy infrastructure on Christmas Day, leaving at least six people injured.

Biden condemned the attacks as an attempt to deprive Ukrainians of heat and electricity during the winter, calling them “outrageous.” He stressed the international community’s responsibility to support Ukraine, saying, “The Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace and safety. We will stand with Ukraine until it triumphs over Russia’s aggression.”
