Pakistan Sends Aid Planes for Gaza Relief

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan will dispatch two large cargo planes filled with humanitarian aid to support the people of Palestine, as a growing hunger crisis grips the Gaza Strip, the government announced Tuesday.

According to a statement from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the aircraft will carry 200 tons of critical supplies, including food and other essential items, and will fly through Jordan and Egypt for quicker delivery into affected areas of Gaza.

“Under the directive of the Prime Minister, the Government of Pakistan has approved the urgent dispatch of critical humanitarian assistance to support the people of Palestine in distress,” said the NDMA.

Gaza in Crisis: Aid Access Collapsing

The decision follows mounting global concern over the deepening starvation crisis in Gaza. With UN-run food centers shut down and Israeli restrictions choking aid delivery routes, residents are increasingly left with no access to basic nutrition.

The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that nearly 100,000 women and children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition, while reports indicate that many families have gone days without food.

International group Doctors Without Borders accused Israel of using “starvation as a weapon” in its military operations, as food convoys are repeatedly blocked or delayed.

The Gaza Health Ministry estimates that more than 60,000 people, mostly women and children, have died since the war began in October 2023.

Pakistan’s Aid Effort: What’s Being Sent

Each aircraft will carry 100 tons of emergency supplies, including ready-to-eat food, dry rations, and medical essentials. The aid flights are scheduled to be prepared within the next two days.

“Pakistan stands with the people of Palestine,” the NDMA said. “These relief efforts reflect our unwavering commitment to support the Palestinian people during this extremely difficult time.”

The Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and NDMA officials will oversee the departure of the aid flights from Islamabad. Pakistan’s embassies in Jordan and Egypt will coordinate local handling and ensure delivery to Gaza via regional aid routes.

A Show of Solidarity

Pakistan has consistently voiced support for Palestinians at international forums. The government has previously sent medical supplies, food aid, and called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access.

“We must act now to prevent a complete humanitarian collapse in Gaza,” said one official close to the operation. “This is not just a political stance it’s a moral responsibility.”
