The Karachi administration has imposed a ban on public gatherings across the division until November 24, citing security concerns and ensuring smooth operations for the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024.

IDEAS 2024, a four-day event organized by the defense ministry and Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO), is being held at the Karachi Expo Centre from November 19 to 22. Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced the restrictions, emphasizing that gatherings of more than five people could pose significant security risks and inconvenience international attendees.

The ban applies to protests, rallies, demonstrations, sit-ins, and assemblies. Station house officers are authorized to register cases against violators, while private schools near Sharea Faisal and Habib Ibrahim Rahmatullah Road will remain closed to facilitate the dignitaries’ movements to the Expo Centre.

This decision follows the recent arrest of over a dozen PTI workers by Karachi police in a rioting case near Sohrab Goth. The administration aims to maintain order and ensure the success of this high-profile event.
