The incident, which took place on Canal Road, was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation from the public. The video footage showed the security guards, who were escorting a luxury vehicle, recklessly displaying sophisticated weapons in broad daylight and violating traffic laws.
Sequence of Events:
According to the viral video, the situation escalated when the traffic slowed down at the underpass, leading to an argument between the security guards and a car rider. In the footage, more than a dozen gunmen can be seen stepping out of double-cabin vehicles, aggressively approaching the car rider, and engaging in a heated verbal exchange.
The situation turned violent when one of the armed men took aim at the car rider and fired a shot, with a bullet piercing through the body of the victim’s vehicle. The reckless display of violence in a public area alarmed other motorists, who condemned the attack and rushed to support the victim.
Muhammad Imran, the car rider who came under attack, later identified himself on social media, revealing that he was a trader by profession. Displaying incredible bravery, he stepped out of his car and overpowered the armed guard who had fired the first shot.
The security guards, realizing the growing crowd and the arrival of the Dolphin Police, attempted to rescue their accomplice. The video footage further showed them physically assaulting Muhammad Imran before fleeing the scene. However, due to heavy traffic congestion, they were forced to abandon one of their vehicles and several weapons before escaping.
Police Investigation & Action:
Following the incident, a spokesperson for the Lahore police confirmed that the Dolphin Force had reached the scene immediately after receiving an alert. The abandoned vehicle and weapons left behind by the security guards were seized.
Despite the evidence left at the scene, the suspects managed to escape, and police teams are now working to trace them using Safe City surveillance cameras.
Taking strict notice of the incident, Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran has ordered an FIR to be registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) against the security guards and the unidentified individual they were escorting. A special police team has been formed to trace and arrest the attackers.
Meanwhile, the victim, Muhammad Imran, took to social media to share his side of the story. He explained that he acted in self-defense when he noticed the guard attempting to fire a second shot, leading him to physically overpower the gunman.
The reckless use of weapons by private security guards in a public area has sparked outrage among citizens, raising serious concerns about law and order. As the investigation unfolds, many are demanding stricter regulations on the use of firearms by private security personnel to prevent such dangerous incidents in the future.
