Two Crore Worth Dog Appointed for Trump's Security

The robot dog, Spot, created by Boston Dynamics, has been integrated into the US Secret Service's security operations to bolster national safety.

Spot, the advanced robotic canine from Boston Dynamics, has become a valuable security tool for the US Secret Service. Recently, Spot was seen patrolling President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. This robot, though unarmed, is remotely controlled and programmed to follow designated security routes.

Warning stickers are placed on Spot’s legs, cautioning people not to touch. Melissa Michalsen, a political science expert from Menlo College, pointed out, “These robots are not meant for petting. They’re not cuddly.” While Spot’s presence has generated mixed responses online, with some finding it fascinating and others feeling uneasy about its intimidating design, it has gone viral on platforms like TikTok.

Although some American talk shows have humorously mocked Spot, the Secret Service views its role as a critical part of their security efforts. Anthony Guglielmi, the Chief of Communications for the Secret Service, stressed, "Ensuring the safety of the President-elect is our top priority."

Given the history of two alleged assassination attempts on Trump before the election, the Secret Service has remained discreet about the specifics of Spot’s deployment, citing security concerns. Boston Dynamics has confirmed supplying the robot dog to the Secret Service but declined to provide additional details.

While the US Secret Service has not disclosed when Spot was first deployed or the exact scope of its duties, one thing is certain: Spot represents a state-of-the-art addition to the agency's security operations.
