Human Rights Watch Sounds Alarm on Gaza's Humanitarian Crisis
HRW accuses Israel of war crimes in Gaza, detailing forced displacements and destruction in a 154-page report. The global watchdog calls for immediate international action and accountability.
Human Rights Watch (HRW), a leading global watchdog, has accused Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. In its detailed 154-page report titled "Hopeless, Starving, and Besieged: Israel's Forced Displacement of Palestinians in Gaza," HRW documents widespread destruction and forced displacements, describing them as acts of ethnic cleansing.
The United Nations reports that over 1.9 million Palestinians, constituting more than 90% of Gaza's population, have been displaced amid the ongoing conflict. HRW’s report highlights the deliberate demolition of homes and civilian infrastructure, including areas designated as "buffer zones" and security "corridors." These actions reportedly aim to permanently displace Palestinians from their homeland.
Covering more than 13 months of conflict, the report underscores systematic efforts by Israeli forces to forcibly remove Palestinians from their homes. HRW asserts that these practices qualify as war crimes and crimes against humanity, urging the international community to take swift action. The organization calls for addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ensuring accountability for Israel's actions.
