Imran Khan Seeks Open Court Hearing, PTI Demands Release & ‘Stolen Mandate’

Islamabad – Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has petitioned the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to hold an open trial for his cases, arguing that his legal proceedings inside Adiala Jail violate constitutional rights and due process.

In his plea, Khan stated that multiple false cases had been filed against him, and his trial was being conducted in a “controlled environment” without proper media coverage. He also alleged that his lawyers were facing harassment and that international media was barred from reporting on the hearings.

Imran Khan Demands Fair & Open Trial

The petition urged the court to ensure transparency in legal proceedings by allowing:

Public trials instead of makeshift prison courts ⚖️
Unrestricted media coverage of the hearings
Access to legal representation without intimidation ⚖️

According to reports, Pakistani media has been instructed to refer to Khan only as the "PTI founder," avoiding direct mention of his name in news coverage.

Imran Khan’s Letters to the Military Leadership

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, revealed that he will soon write a third letter to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. The previous two letters, which alleged growing tensions between Pakistan’s military and the people, were shared with the media. However, the military has denied receiving them.

"My letter to the COAS was not for a deal. I wrote it to make him understand that the army and the people must unite to fight terrorism." – Imran Khan

Aleema Khan further stated that the next letter would be an “open letter on behalf of the masses,” allowing the public to read it.

PTI Marks Anniversary of ‘Stolen Mandate’

On the first anniversary of the February 8 elections, PTI held a large public rally at Swabi Interchange, where leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, claimed the elections were rigged and their mandate was stolen.

  • PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the elections were manipulated to install a “fake government”.
  • Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai echoed similar concerns, saying the current government must be removed for its alleged electoral fraud.
