Saudi Fast-Food Giant Al Baik to Launch in Pakistan, Promises Jobs and Trade Growth

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to welcome Saudi Arabia’s popular fast-food chain, Al Baik, in a move expected to generate employment and boost bilateral trade. Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, during his visit to Jeddah, met with Saudi business leaders, inviting them to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Beyond Al Baik’s entry into the market, Khan also discussed expanding cooperation in energy, IT, agriculture, and construction sectors. He emphasized the 22% rise in trade volume, which now stands at $700 million, and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s $7.4 billion remittances sent by Pakistani expatriates last year.

The minister met with Al Baik owner Rami Abu Ghazaleh, who confirmed that the brand’s expansion into Pakistan was in its final stages. The company, known for its signature fried chicken, has already gained popularity among Pakistanis visiting Saudi Arabia.

Khan also reiterated Pakistan’s business-friendly environment and new visa-free entry policy for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, aiming to encourage greater business and labor mobility between the two nations.

Al Baik’s arrival is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to enhance private-sector collaboration with Saudi Arabia. In October, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif secured $2.8 billion in commercial agreements during his Riyadh visit, further strengthening economic ties.
