Malala Yousafzai Condemns Israel for Destroying Gaza’s Education System

ISLAMABAD – Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has criticized Israel for decimating the education infrastructure in Gaza, emphasizing the dire impact on the region’s future. Speaking at the International Summit on Girls’ Education in Islamabad, hosted by Pakistan, Malala highlighted the extensive damage to Gaza's schools and universities caused by Israeli airstrikes.

“In Gaza, Israel has decimated the entire education system. They have bombed all universities, destroyed more than 90% of schools, and indiscriminately attacked civilians sheltering in school buildings,” said Malala during her address to representatives from dozens of Muslim nations.

The summit, aimed at addressing educational challenges in Muslim-majority countries, provided a platform for Malala to spotlight the humanitarian and educational crisis in Gaza.

A Longstanding Advocate for Education

Malala, who survived a near-fatal attack by militants in Pakistan for advocating girls’ education, has become a global symbol of resilience and the fight for educational rights. She remains vocal about violations of human rights and international law, urging global leaders to take action.

"I will continue to speak out," Malala said, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to prioritize the protection of education during conflicts.

Impact of the Crisis in Gaza

The recent escalation in violence has left millions of Palestinian children without access to education, as schools and universities have been reduced to rubble. According to humanitarian agencies:

  • 90% of schools have been destroyed or severely damaged.
  • Universities across Gaza are non-operational.
  • Civilians, including children, have been killed in attacks targeting educational facilities used as shelters.

Malala called on Muslim nations and international organizations to ensure the protection of education in conflict zones and to work towards rebuilding Gaza’s education infrastructure.
